Another Ivory Burning

President Kenyatta is to host the inaugural Giants’ Club summit to tackle the elephant poaching crisis. African heads of State, corporation leaders and conservations will gather at the Mt Kenya Safari Club, Laikipia on 29 April 2016. The next day, 30 April, Kenya will burn its ivory stocks (120 tons) at the burning site in the Nairobi National Park at 3 p.m. This is the largest quantity of ivory ever destroyed by any country in one go. The event is being supported by a number of wildlife charities, including Space for Giants, Wild Aid, and Stop Ivory, and will be attended by several A list personalities including Leonardo de Caprio and Yao Ming, among others.
