It has been announced that as part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery, with effect from 1 July 2015 visas can (not must) be applied for online before arrival to Kenya. The procedure is:
Log in to www.ecitizen.go.ke
Select: Register as a visitor
Select: Department of Immigration Services
Select: Submit Application
Select: Kenyan Visa
Select: type of visa and read the instructions carefully
Fill in the application form
Pay using Visa card, Mastercard, and other debit cards
Await approval by email, then download and print the E-Visa from your eCitizen account
Present your printed e-Visa to the immigration officer at the port of entry.
The new service will go live from 2 July 2015.
Visitors can still get their visas on arrival up to the end of August 2015. During this period they still have the option to either apply on line or get their visa on arrival.
The email approval after application and payment will take SEVEN days, hence visitors coming to Kenya after 1 September 2015 will need to lodge their visa application well in advance.
For arrivals after 1 September 2015, if there is no change in policy, all visas must be applied for on line.
We advise all our film crews to come in on a TOURIST visa.
